Commander's Message

Dear Chapter Commanders and Patriots,

As a returning current war veteran of Iraq and Afghanistan, my goal is to emphasize recognition to all who have served and sacrificed for our great country. Our department and numerous state chapters are here to support every veteran with their day-to-day living or transition from active duty to civilian life. Please be confident that we are striving every day to better the lives of New Mexico veterans and their families. The Department Senior Vice Commander, Geoff Stone, and Junior Vice Commander, Rob Bibeau, are current war veterans and our current war veteran membership is growing.

Your department has a number of annual events to which your participation is invited. They are a golf tournament, family picnic, Fallen Warrior Ceremony on Memorial and Veterans Day, Statewide MOPH ROTC Awards Presentations, December holiday dinner celebration, February luncheon celebrating George Washington's birthday, and our State MOPH Convention usually held in May or June.

Additionally, your local chapters sponsor a number of events. Bataan Chapter 176, located in Rio Rancho, sponsors a tremendous bowling tournament at Santa Ana Star Casino in May of each year. Chapter 372 located in Santa Fee sponsors an annual picnic and auction to raise scholarship money for children of combat wounded veterans.

I am asking for your continued support and that you get involved with our programs supporting our returning warriors. Our mentoring program is working to assist in their reintegration back to their families and society and has helped over 50 returnees.

The 7th Annual Fallen Warriors Golf Tournament, the department's major fund raiser benefiting fallen and wounded warriors, was conducted on Saturday, 30 August 2014 at Los Altos Golf Course in Albuquerque as MOPH continues to support this worthy cause.

We have Facebook™ page for the Department, and Chapter 1966 currently has an active page on Facebook™; check it out and like it please.

Yours in Patriotism,
Erik Hoskinson, Commander
